VOLUNTEER POSITION: Project and Clerical Assistant
ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHT:
DOORWAYS, a nationally-known interfaith non-profit, empowers clients to overcome poverty, HIV, and homelessness by providing numerous supportive services that improve Housing, Health and Hope. As a bi-state agency with broad impact, we assist nearly 3,500 clients annually. On the heels of opening our innovative 3-acre $40M Jefferson Ave. Campus, we are poised to expand our programming to improve service provision, while taking the organization to new heights.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The ideal Project and Clerical Assistant Volunteer will have a desire to help with administrative duties and special projects as needed. Volunteers are requested a few hours a day either weekly, monthly or even as one-time volunteer activity. Ideally, a volunteer’s interests and skills are leveraged to build community and offer support to the staff and participants at DOORWAYS.
Experience working with the HIV, homeless, and/or LGBTQIA+ community is strongly preferred.
WHAT YOU RECEIVE:
Become part of a compassionate work community and help to reduce staff workload. Your contributions will allow staff to continue building and improving programming to support the overall DOORWAYS mission to improve the quality of life of people affected by HIV, illness, and poverty by advancing their stability and well-being through housing, health, and empowerment services.
MAJOR TASKS INCLUDE:MAJOR TASKS INCLUDE:
You will work closely with participants, staff, and other volunteers to:
- Alleviate staff workload and allow them to continue building and improving programming
- Assist in an office environment with ongoing administrative tasks and projects
- Reach out to various groups and community members to engage them in support of upcoming events and ongoing programming
- Stage apartments for new residents
- Assist the volunteer coordinator to manage, train, track and utilize volunteers
- Use your interests and skills to bring community and support to the staff and participants at DOORWAYS
- Develop and lead individualized wellness activities and creative projects for both staff and participants
