Volunteering In Disaster
In coordination with community organizations, disaster response teams, emergency management, and the local government, United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center is working to identify where volunteers are most needed.
Below are the current volunteer opportunities. This list will be updated as more needs arise. Please keep in mind ongoing safety considerations as we continue determining how volunteers can best support recovery efforts in the coming days and weeks. Additionally, you can register to be notified when new volunteer opportunities become available. Sign Up to be Notified!
Please Keep in Mind:
-
Do not self-deploy to the scene of the disaster. Unexpected volunteers may interfere with response and assessment efforts and could unintentionally put themselves or others at risk.
-
Any assigned volunteer opportunity will not involve first-responder activity or place volunteers in hazardous situations. Volunteers will be safely placed in roles that support emergency response officials and community-based organizations.
-
Volunteer opportunities will be based on the identified needs of the community and the ability to meet those needs in a safe, organized, and effective manner.
-
Help will be needed most during the recovery phase. Volunteers are often most valuable in the days, weeks, and months following a disaster.
