Opportunity Details
Equine-Assisted Services Volunteer
Equine Assisted Service Volunteers actively assist in individual and group equestrian activities by helping the staff prepare the horse for the session, leading the horse during the session, and/or directly assisting clients with balance and exercises. Volunteers start as Sidewalkers, providing physical stability to the client. They may then train as Leaders, and then progress to Horse Handlers. Sidewalkers and Leaders must be able to run beside the horse at a trot while keeping the rider balanced and safe. Most program volunteers have a set weekly schedule working with the same clients. Other program volunteers act as floaters who respond to emails asking for help to fill empty volunteer spots for the week.
Additional volunteers are also needed to help in: Facility & Grounds, Equine Support & Barn Management, Community Outreach Events, and Office Support. Volunteers can help maintain the TREE House grounds, barn, and the main building, as well as attend events, and support our office with data entry, greeting clients, etc. Volunteers have a set weekly schedule.
This is a year-round program. Minimum age to volunteer is 14.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 14+, Minimum Age:14+, Court Ordered Volunteer - Allowed
