Front Desk Receptionist
Guided by the principles of Catholic social teaching, Catholic Urban Programs advance the dignity of the human person, remediate the effects of poverty, and empower people to become self-sufficient through crisis intervention, housing security, and out-of-school-time programs. CUP operates its programs at eight locations in East St. Louis.
Volunteers are essential to the daily work of the Catholic Urban Programs HUB location. Always bustling with phone calls and visitors, volunteers play a significant role in welcoming guests, connecting those in need with the appropriate staff person, and sharing referrals to other community resources. Volunteers work closely with our caseworkers and program managers in serving HUB guests.
Looking for a receptionist on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Duties
- Operating a multi-line phone system
- Greet clients and visitors
- Fax and photocopy documents
- Answer questions, provide basic information about CUP services, and direct clients to the appropriate department.
- Maintain call log
- Register clients for Food Pantry visits
- Must be able to work independently and with staff
Helpful Skills
- Communicate in a positive, polite, and respectful manner
- Initiative to perform duties under minimal supervision
- Comfort level with computer use for data entry, internet search
- Excel, outlook, email
- Ability to operate a multi-line phone system
- Capable of multi-tasking
- Even-tempered, able to effectively serve people experiencing crises
- Initiative to learn the programs and services of CUP
- Flexible thinking/understanding that each day/week can be different than the one prior
Training:
- Must complete volunteer orientation
- Must complete Diocese of Belleville Child Protection Training and background screening
- Complete six hours of the front desk training
