The Salvation Army Toy Town
For more than a decade, the popular Toy Town program has helped ensure more St. Louis children wake up to a present under their tree on Christmas morning. How can we accomplish this? Through the generosity of our volunteers. To continue to serve our community we need your help. By volunteering at our Christmas Toy Town, we are able to direct more of our resources on helping the community. Whether you want to work closely with our clients or behind the scenes, we have a volunteer position for you.
You are welcome to select more than one timeframe or date.
Volunteer Positions Available
Personal Shoppers:
Personal shoppers are needed to assist our clients through the “shopping” experience of selecting gifts for their children. Each personal shopper will be introduced to a client and given the age(s) and gender(s) of the child or children the client is shopping for. Personal Shopper’s duty includes:
-Directing clients to the area specific to the child’s age
-Ensuring the clients receive the allotted number of gifts
Greeters/ Hospitality:
When a person enters the unknown, it usually helps to meet a friendly face. The primary duty of our volunteer door greeters and hospitality volunteers is to stand at the door and greet our clients as they arrive, and wish them well on the client’s way outside. Others duties include:
-Directing clients to the correct area
-Handing out any information or flyers
-Helping clients load gifts
Sorters/Stockers
When donations are received through donors they have to be separated into age and gender groups for the clients to select from. Those toys are then stocked so clients can ‘shop.’ Sorters/Stockers are responsible for:
-Assisting in unloading donations
-Separating donations into groups by age and gender
-Airing bikes or any assembly of donations as required
-Watch shopping area and move merchandise from our sorting area to our shopping area

Age Minimum (with Adult): 16+, Minimum Age:16+
