Blitz Blooms 2023
* UPDATE 2/28/23: Thanks to AMAZING volunteers, we successfullly sowed all of our Blitz Blooms seedlings in just a few sessions!! WOW! We have cancelled the remaining Blitz Blooms volunteer events. We do invite you to our Demonstration Garden Work Days as well. And if you're part of a larger volunteer group, don't hesistate to contact us directly to see if we have any projects that would work for you.*
We're already ready for Spring and plan to sow 100,000+ seedlings this year! Thanks to neighborhood groups doing Blitz Clean-up projects and then organizing planting days, these flower seedlings (celosia, dianthus, marigold, and vinca) will help beautify public spaces across the city. To have these seedlings ready, Brightside needs your help!
What: Sow Blitz Blooms seedlings
Where: The Greenhouse in Forest Park
When: Select Saturdays (2/11, 2/25, 3/4, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1) from 9:00am - 12:00pm
We will fill 200-count seedling trays with soil and then drop a seed in each pod. It's so easy and relaxing. Join us and then you can say, "Hey! I grew those flowers!" when you see them in a neighborhood near you later this Spring.
It can get warm and muggy in the Greenhouse, so dress in light layers that can get dirty!
