Driver/Delivery Volunteer COVID-19 Helpline for At Risk Citizens (Mora)
The United Way of Pettis County is recruiting volunteers to pick up groceries and medication for Pettis County Senior Citizens and those who are at most risk in response to the COVID-19 Virus. The Volunteers will be contacted by the Pettis County Community Helpline Call In-Take Worker. The primary role of the Driver/Delivery person is to pick up food and medication and deliver to the Pettis County Population who are at most risk. The caller is responsible for the payment of items. The Call-In Take Volunteer will provide instructions to the caller to prepay for items to minimize the exchange of money. Isolation is a real concern for this population. They are no longer seeing family members that they may have seen on a regular basis, attending social functions, etc. In an effort to prevent the effect of isolation for our At-Risk Person, the Driver/Delivery Volunteer would create a one on one relationship and call the person on a regular basis to check on them and see how they are doing and if they need anything. When items are delivered the Driver/Delivery Volunteer can wave at the At-Risk Person through the door as social distancing will remain in effect. It will do the soul good to see another human being.
