Partnership Against Hunger
On the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, The Food Bank partners with Cumulus Radio, Walmart, Schnucks, HyVee and KOMU to hold a 12-hour food drive to help feed those in need during the holidays. In Jefferson City the location is Walmart - 724 W. Stadium Blvd. Volunteers are needed to collect food and funds outside their doors. The event will be from 6 am to 6 pm, but volunteers can come and go depending on their availability. 2 hour shifts are appreciated!
For every $1 donation, The Food Bank can acquire $21 worth of groceries for the community. Last year The Food Bank distributed $1.6 million pounds of food to local shelters and food pantries in Cole County. Additionally, there is a mobile food pantry, a refrigerated truck, that distributes fresh produce, protein, and vegetables to neighbors in need.
