Fireflies After Dark at The Butterfly House

Event Info: Experience an evening out like no other! At Fireflies After Dark, you will enjoy delicious appetizers provided by Sugarfire Smokehouse – Winghaven, taste a variety of libations, and go on moonlit strolls to see real fireflies. Bring your friends and learn about what makes these little beetles twinkle.

The event runs from 7-9:30 pm and volunteer shifts will be from 6:30-10:00 pm in order to assist with setup and tear down. All volunteers will be stationed outdoors (with the exception of conservatory entrance/exit/theater).

Volunteers will assist with:

Zero Waste Ambassador
- Help the Butterfly House be as green as possible by helping event attendees sort their leftovers into recycling, compost, and if need be, landfill.
Food Station Assistance
- You will assist in clearing tables, keeping drink containers filled, and various other tasks.
Conservatory entrance/exit/theater
- You will welcome event attendees to the tropical butterfly conservatory and check them for butterflies as they exit. You may also assist in our theater which will have a special exhibit and vendors.
Greet/Firefly Walk Assistant
- You will assist with event check-in then transition to assisting our entomologists with safely escorting event attendees outdoors for firefly walks.

All volunteers must be 21 years of age or older due to the presence of alcohol at the event.
