We are seeking Visiting Volunteers for our Visit-A-Bit program. Visit-A-Bit (VAB) is designed to directly address senior adult loneliness in the Greater St. Louis area. It’s a weekly socialization program (at least one hour a week but no more than two) that connects volunteers with seniors who may be living alone or in a senior community. The program pairs them together based on location, interests, and hobbies to develop meaningful relationships.
Listed below are some of the requirements of the program:
Call the Visit-A-Bit Manager with any issues, concerns, or questions.
Visits take place at the senior's home (we pair based on your location/interests).
Complete an online visit report after visiting with your assigned senior.
Be a friend to your senior and refer to your training manual if you have questions.
Must be respectful, gentle, kind, and non-judgmental.
Visit your senior weekly for at least one hour but no more than two hours.
In the event you can't visit one week, you replace the visit with a phone call.
