Saint Louis Crisis Nursery - Sharing & Sorting Program Volunteers

The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery's Sharing & Sorting Program provides life's basic necessities to children and families in need - food, formula, diapers, blankets, warm clothing, hygiene items and more. As a Sharing & Sorting Program Volunteer, you'll be making a difference in the lives of children whose families don't have the resources to provide for these basic needs.
Description of Position

  • Pack bags of diapers to send home with our babies

  • Assemble bags of food for families who don't have enough to eat

  • Match outfits to fill our children's dressers

  • Sort and organize donations to ensure children staying at the Nursery have what they need

Knowledge, Skills or Attributes Needed

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Decision-making capabilities

  • Ability to safely lift and carry donations (i.e. box of clothing, a bag of toys, a box of food, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently

Days & Times Needed

  • Any day (including weekends) between 8am-6pm. Minimum commitment of one 2-hour shift per week is required for individual volunteers.

  • Volunteer groups can be scheduled for a one-time volunteer opportunity.

Position Requirements*

  • Completion of our Volunteer Packet, which includes an application, medical form completed by your doctor, state background checks and a fingerprint-based background check ($40).

  • Attend a Volunteer Orientation after completion of Volunteer Packet and acceptance as a Saint Louis Crisis Nursery Volunteer.

*If you are part of a volunteer group interested in a one-time volunteer opportunity in our Sharing & Sorting Progam, you will not need to complete the Volunteer Packet. Contact Ann@crisisnurserykids.org for more info.
