Board Member

Ripples Foundation USA is seeking vibrant and innovative board members to lead its overall governance and fundraising strategies.

We accomplish this by investing in economic and social prosperity, providing micro-finance and/or inputs to set up sustainable businesses.  This improves quality of life, increases self-esteem and self-sufficiency and enables women to invest in the future

We are looking for candidates with experience in non-profit management, enthusiastic leaders with three or more years experience as a member of a board. We estimate that your monthly commitment will be less than 10 hours per month.

General Responsibilities (All Board Members)

  1. Responsible for setting fundraising goals and leading activities that lead to successful fundraising outcomes

  2. Actively participate in fundraising.

  3. Overall governance of Ripples Foundation accomplished through the establishment and monitoring of policies and programs.

  4. Establishing a strategic purpose and direction for the Ripples Foundation by participation in regular strategic planning meetings and through monitoring of the agency’s progress toward planned results.

  5. Hiring, monitoring and evaluating of the Executive Director’s performance, general responsibilities and yearly progress toward the agency’s objectives.

  6. Development of funds used to support agency operations, programs and services by means of participation in plans and activities set forth by the Fund Development committee.

  7. Give minimum donation of $250/annually

  8. Raise funds in the form of monetary donation or in-kind donation

  9. Act as a representative of Ripples Foundation in the community to stakeholders, including: funders, supportive/collaborative service providers, and clients.

  10. Monitor and safeguard the financial stability of Ripples Foundation through continuous analysis of financial reports and compliance with fiscal policies set forth by the Finance Committee.

  11. Ensure effective performance of the agency’s programs through continuous analysis and improvement.

  12. Support the endurance of Ripples Foundation with succession planning and the recruitment and development of new board members.

  13. Comply with all federal, state, local and agency regulations.

 

Individual Responsibilities (Each Board Member)

  1. Regularly attend and participate in full board meetings, committee meetings as assigned and any special sessions called by the Board Chair.

  2. Build a collegial working relationship with fellow board members that contribute to consensus.

  3. Regularly contribute to the organization in a way that is meaningful to both you, as a board member, and the agency.

  4. Readily take on assignments when asked and complete them in an accurate and timely manner.

  5. Review minutes, reports and agendas prior to meetings to ensure you are informed and prepared.

  6. Active participation in fundraising activities.
