Soles for Christ

AFL-CIO Community Services is preparing to distribute shoes for our Soles For Christ Shoe Program in August. We are in need of volunteers and are asking if you would consider helping us out. We ask that volunteers be 18 years or older.

Since the program’s inception, 12,537 pairs of shoes have been given out to students in need. You can imagine how many hands it takes to fit all those feet with new shoes. Please keep in mind that this is a very busy, hands-on volunteer job. There will be hundreds of people here and you will need to be able to bend and be up and down a lot. We will have a few positions available at the registration table for those who would like to volunteer but need to be seated.

The schedule to organize and give out shoes is as follows:

Friday, August 3

9 am - 1 pm - Set up and organize the shoes

Monday, August 6

7:30 am - 4 pm – Register, size, fit and distribute shoes

Tuesday, August 7

7:30 am6 pm – Register, size, fit and distribute shoes

If you would be willing to help us out during any of the above times, please sign up by Friday, July 27. After I get everyone scheduled I will email a master work schedule and more information to all of the volunteers.

The opportunity date and time you are looking for is no longer available.
