Governing Board

United 4 Children is seeking passionate community leaders to join our Governing Board.  To ensure we are representative of the community we are seeking to expand our cultural diversity so we are seeking African Americans, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American, and multi-race. United 4 Children has the primary objective of reducing educational disparities so that we can ensure a future where all children achieve educational and life success regardless of their challenges.  If you're interested in helping shape children's lives so they can become our strong future, then this is the Board for you.

The Governing Board is critical to the effectiveness of the organization and requires the following commitments:

  • Oversight of United 4 Children's operational activities, including:
    •Establish and implementation of policies
    •Annual evaluation of the Executive Director
    •Development and implementation of a Strategic Plan
    •Act as fiduciary in approving and monitoring the operating budget and ensuring that all fiscal/control policies are adhered to.

  • Assist the Executive Director by opening doors to corporate, foundation and individual donor prospects through letters, telephone calls or face-to-face meetings with the intent being to increase Board and/or solicit funds.

  • Participate in and support United 4 Children event and activities.

  • Serve on at least one standing Board committee.

  • Serve a minimum of one three-year term (maximum of three consecutive terms).

  • Advocate United 4 Children's mission of improving the social, emotional, physical, and educational well-being of children by enriching the knowledge of families, teachers, and caregivers.
